NELSON NEWS.
HARBOR IMPROVEMENTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, last night. At a meeting of the Nelson Harbor Board it was decided by seven to three to adopt Mr Leslie Reynolds’ number two plan for improvements to Nelson Harbor. ENCAMPMENT. The Nelson volunteers, with some from Marlborough, have been in camp during the holidays, and though rain was experienced till to-day some good work was done. Tliore were about five hundred under canvas to-day. The sham fight and review were witnessed by a large number of people, and the volunteers acquitted themselves well. , SPORTS. The athletic and cycling sports at Foxliill to-day were largely attended, and the events wore well contested. There were several outside competitors. Evans, of Wellington, won the Foxhill Handicap, the half-mile, and the 220 and 440 hurdles. Carrison, of Wellington, won the two-mile amateur cycling event.
