Speaking at the Arbitration Board at Christchurch, Mr F. Waymouth, manager of the Canterbury Freezing and Meat Company, said he would like to draw attention to what was generally regarded a 3 a very serious principle in Conciliation Board awards. If the Unions applied for detail awards in compound businesses like freezing works, and the awards wero granted, they had a complicated effect on the business. Awards, if made at all, should, in such cases, apply to the whole of the branches, and not to one class ofworkers,
