MINERAL RETURNS
A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN GOLD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The following is a statement of the colony’s gold returns for March :—40,002 oz, value £157,159, as against 39,1560 z, value £152,980, for the corresponding month of last year. The silver returns were 35,2080 z, value £3599, as against 29,2240 z, value £2394. The gold returns for the first quarter of the year were 115,2990 z, value £445,119, while for the first quarter of last year the quantity was 95,9230 z, value £573,220, an increase for the quarter of 19,3760 z, aud of £71,899 in value.
