THE MORMONS
POLYGAMY IN PARIS. Paris, February 16. A Mormon colony has just been, discovered in Paris with a temple in a private house. The male members number sixteen, having fifty-eight wives. One man has seven wives with just one child each. Another has three wives and sixteen children. All the Paris Mormons arc respectable and industrious citizens. Though the authorities have been informed it is said no prosecution is intended, the marriages being strictly religious with no civil formality, polygamous wives being viewed by the state as having no legal status, although their children can be legitimatized without entailing marriage with mothers.
