A GALLANT SOLDIER,
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, April 1. A fire broke out in tho sailroom of the American gunboat Petrol, at Cavite. Liout.-Commandcr Roper went to the rescue of the occupants, and was suffocated and died. Twenty-two who were prostrated arc recovering.
