DETAILS OF TIIE RACE. (Received March 31, 5.21 p.m.) London, March 30. The boat race was rowed in a strbng gusty wind and rain. Cambridge won the toss, and clioso tho Surrey station. Tho boats passed Crabtree and Hammersmith bridge on level terms. The water was fearfully rough to Chcswick Church, where Cambridge lc‘'< by a length, which was increased to a length and a-half at Barnes’ Bridge, wlicro the water was comparatively smooth. Oxford then spurted magnificently, and drew level again at Limes. Cambridge gamely responded. There was a dingdong struggle for tho remainder of tho course, Oxford winning by two feet. Both crews were greatly distressed at the finish.
The betting was 3 to 1 on Oxford before the start of the race.
