The Nursery Match was taken first, and the bronze medal and Teams Match is progressing. The chief prize-takers in the Nursery Match, 500 yards, ten shots, are : Laurence, Kaitangata, £6, 'SO ; Perrin, Palmerston North, £5, 49 ; Hyde, Napier, £4, 49 ; Greenwood, Upper Hutt, £3, 49 ; Smaill, Kaitangata, £2, 49 ; Lindsay, Studholmo, £2, 48 ; Ashley, Palmerston North, £2, 48 ; Trent, Christchurch, £2, 48 ; Boyes, Tirnnru, £2, 48. The firing for the bronze medal, ten
shots, 500 and 600 yards, resulted: Hobbs, Hastings, L 3, 94 ; Pearson, Timaru, L 3, 94 ; Burns, Karori, L 3, 92 ; Jkcy, Taranaki, L2, 91 ; A. Ballinger,' Wellington, L2, 91 ; Welch, Wairarapa, LI, 90 ; Glcadow, Napier, LI, 89 ; Johnston, Marton, LI, 89 ; Winslade, Wanganui, LI, 88 ; Love, Wanganui, LI, 87 ; Saywell, Wairakei, LI, 86. The wiuner also takes the silver modal. With two ranges completed, the position of the companies’ teams is : Timaru Port Guards 316, Victoria Rifles 307, Kaitangata Rifles 306, Petone Rifle Club 805, Palmerston Rifles 303, Woodvillo Rifle Club" 800, Akarana Rifle Club 299, Karori Rifle Club 295, Wanganui Rifles 294, Canterbury Engineers 294, Hon. Reserve Corps, Christchurch, 286.
District Representative Match, 500 and 600 yards, seven shots ; Wanganui, Taranaki, and Napier combined,l22o, L3O and Exhibition Shield ; Wellington, 1211 ; Canterbury, 1195 ; Otago, 1186. Pirie, of Napier, made the possible at each range, and takes Hobson’s Cup. The same district walked over in this match at last meeting. To-day the shooting was confined to working off the minor matches, and the Chanjpionshig wqk ' left’ Over until tomorrow. The Nursery Match was the first finished, and Lawrence, of Kaitangata, won it with the possible score of 50 ; Perrin, Palmerston, being next with 49, and Hyde, Napier, third with 49.
In the Bronze Medal Match, 500 and 600 yards, 10 shots, Hobbs, of Hastings, shot in much improved form, beating several cracks, and winning the chief prize with 94. Pearson, of Timaru, was next with 92, and Burns, Karori, third, 92.
The District Representative Match was the next to finish, and was won by Taranaki, Wanganui and Rapier combined with a total of 1220 ; Wellington was second with 1211 Canterbury, 1195 ; Otago, 1176. The winners take thc exhibition shield, and Pirie, of Napier, being the highest scorer in the match, making the possible at each range, holds Hobson’s eUp for a'year. ‘ ' ' In the afternoon the companies team match was fired, the Timaru Guards and the Victoria Rifles, of Auckland, being a tie with”4s6. They agreed to divide. Petone was third with 454. Palmerston North and Kaitangata, 447, were a tie for fourth place. Canterbury district won the field firing competition with 47 points ; Auckland and Otago combinod being second, with 37 ; Wanganui, third, 84 ; Wellington, last, 31.
Volley firing completed the day’s shooting, Wanganui, Taranaki, and Napier district getting in the' greatest number of hits, and scoring 420.
