By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, March 25. A number of warships and torpedo-boat destroyers met tho Ophir outsido Valclta harbor. The gambols of tlic destroyers were among the features of tiio approach to Malta. A magnificent gun-fire was maintained from the battleships and forts as tho Ophir steamed up the harbor. Thero was brilliant weather. The Duke of York signalled thanks for the welcome by wireless telegraphy, saying: “ Glad to bo with you again on such an interesting occasion.” ■ 41000 TO BE SPENT IN EACH CITY. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. The Premier has telegraphed to the Mayor of Dunedin, stating that tho Government has decided to direct and general the entertaining of the Cornwalls. It lias been decided to illuminate the Government buildings, construct platforms for the use of distinguished guests, and erect one arch in each of the four centres for tho purpose ; 41000 will be expended in each city, Tho Government also pro ; poses to promote an act of indemnity early next session. The Premier’s telegram concludes : “ Don’t forget; faint heart never won fair lady, and enthusiasm in a cause always carries the day,” ' '
