The State Min-Ister of Labor ; s taking steps to arreuge a conference of coal-lumpers and collieiy-owneis with a view to compromising the difficulty. A conference of State Commandants is being held in Sydney with the object of arranging details of the transfer of the forces to Federal command. As there are no further sig.'s of small-pox aboard the Eurya’xs, she has been released from quarantine. Mr W. G. Woolnough, demonstrator of geology at Sydney University, has returned i’.'om a geological expedition to Fiji. As the resu’t of his investigation, he declares that he considers it dofinit ely settled that Fiji is a relic of what was once a large continent.
