POLO TOURNAMENT

A POOR START. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. Tho polo tournament opened to-day at Miramir. The teams competing arc Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Oroua, Christchurch, Hawera, and Rangitikei. The first round for the Savile Cup was commenced. Rangitikei defeated Wellington A 'team by six goals to one. Oroua defeated Hawera by thirteen goals to two. The first of these games was fast and interesting, but tho second one was very one-sided, although the defeated team played well at the finish. The weather was miserably cold. The spectators numbered about .one hundred.
