Wanganui, March 23. The wind was very tricky while the first men were down for tho Oamaru match, 10 shots, 700 yards ; consequently the shooting was not up to the standard of the previous days. After the Christchurch match was finished, the first range of the Wellington match (500 yards, 7 shots) was taken, and some excellent shooting was made. Randall, Greenwood, and Grace (of Wellington), Cox and Henderson (of Auckland), Ingpen (of Woodvillo), and Lester (of Christchurch) made the possible. At tho finish of the day’s shooting, three Woodville men were leading for the belt, the scores being : G. Loveday 257, Wilson and Nelson 255. Several others are close up.
Later. —The shooting to-day was not so good as on the previous day, owing chiefly to the strength of tho wind. The Ladies’ Match, shot at 200yds, kneeling, was won by Hoffens, of Wairarapa, with the good score of 48. O'Ching, of Nelson, also made 48, but was beaten in a tie.
In the Oamaru Match, 10' shots at 700yds, Balfour secured first prize with 44, which is two points less than the winning score at last meeting. Wilson, of Woodvillo, was second with 43, and Allport, of Nelson, third with 43. The other chief prize-takers were : Wilkie, of Upper Hutt, 43 ; Gleadows (Napier), Hunter (Christchurch), Wain (Studholme), Mills (Dunedin), Harford (Feilding), 42. During tho afternoon the wind fell and the shooting improved. The principal prize-winners in the Christchurch Match, 10 shots at 700yds, were : Carson, Timaru, £» 47
