The Federal Commission.
TAKING EVIDENCE IN SYDNEY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, March 21. The Federal Commission examined Mr Nash (financial editor of the Daily Telegraph), Sir W. McMillan, Dr McLaurin, and Mr Sehcy, Secretary of the l'rotcc-* tionist Party and formerly a member of the Labor Party. Mr Reid will give his views on Monday. The Commission sails for Hobart by the Cuzco on Wednesday; thence to Melbourne, Adelaide, and finally Brisbane. They expect to leave Sydney for Wellington on April 27th. It is understood that Mr McMillan, who was before the Commission for over two hours, and dealt exhaustively with the wliolo question, favors New Zealand joining ; while Dr McLaurin said tiiat if he were a Now Zealandor he would not join. Air Schey’s evidence was taken to ascertain the wages paid in Australia, and to enable the Commission to compare them with those paid in New Zealand.
