A public meeting, attondod by botweon 30 and 40 citizens, was held to-day to consider mattors in connection with tho reception of the Yorks. The ActingMayor (Mr J. J. Smith), who presided, said that the cost of decorating the city would be about .01500 ; it had been suggested that tho City Council should find .01000, and the neighbouring local bodies tho balance. The general opinion of tho meeting was that tho cost should bo borne by the Government, and on the motion of Mr "NY. Clirystal it was resolved that in the opinion of this meeting of citizens of Christchurch, called to considor what steps should bo taken in connection with the reception of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, all expenses attending such reception should be borno by tho Consolidated Fund, and tho Chairman be requested to forward a copy of this resolution to tho Premier, and that this meeting bo adjournod until receipt of his reply. It was resolved to send a copy of the resolution to the Mayors of other citios, asking them to co-operate in tho direction indicated.

Tho team was only going to play principal matches in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, and tho question was would there bo a guarantee from New Zealand. After some discussion, the Secretary was instructed to write to tho New Zealand Associations, asking if they will be prepared to guarantee £2OO oach for a visit of tho Marylebono team.
