HARBOR ELECTION.
(To tho Editor of the Times). Sir, —It must bo satisfactory to the Public that you inserted the portion of Mr W. D. Lysnar’s letter which the P.B. Herald refused ; by it every right-thinking and sane individual cannot but sec that it is an electioneering dodge to tout for the two candidates whom he mentions, Capt. Tucker and Mr Pettie, and not for the purpose of venting his opinion of Mr Rees’ proposed scheme. If tho voters will consider, Capt. Tucker cannot be forgotten as to his action toward the Borough re Waiohiharore (Waikanae); that there is nothing extraordinary to speak of that he has done as a member of the Borough unless what I have mentioned, or for the Harbor Board to give him the preference above another candidate.
Mr Pettio is no doubt a good citizen and a business man, but has no experience in local bodies for him to be put up as an example of the best to be selected. Tho other two candidates Mr Lysuar judges in a severe manner, and allows no credit for their past services to tho public. There is this to remember, that Mr Lysnav is not to be classed as a criterion critic, and that the ratepayers will settle the question without his counsel.—l am, etc., D. Murray.
