Tho Duko of York replied to the Agents General joint message stating ho wai greatly touched by their telegram, am anticipating deep intorest in tho groai event of the Royal visit. Auckland, last night.. The Governor has approved of a sug gestion of Mr Holmes that school child ren should assemble, and sing tho Na tional Anthem. Tho Premier telegraphs that all tin members of Parliament havo oxprcsscc their approval of tho efforts being madi by tho Government, and of Mr Holmes’ appointment. He says there will bo 1 very heavy expenditure on the part of tin colony outside of any borno by the loca bodies. Mr Holmes wishes it clcnrl; understood that tho Government will bca no part of the oxponse of the actual re coption, and will only lcgaliso any adniis sible expondituro incurred by the loea bodies beyond that allowed by statute Tho citizens must realiso their responsi bility, and must understand clearly tho the expenses of tho reception will bo on tirely borno by themselves. Mr Holme points out that at Home whon a Eoya personage visits tho town tho costs _nr always borne by the Corporation, or wit! the help of the citizens.
