Mr Percy Barker returned from Wanganui by the Elingamite on Saturday morning. ' . ? Mr Arthur Adams, who has bvSn acting as war correspondent in China, left Sydney by the Mokoia on Saturday. Mr Stouart, of the firm of Messrs Stera ; and Finn, returned to Auckland by the Elingamite on Saturday. Messrs C. and J. Walker, son 3 of the Hon. AY. C, Walker, arrived in Gisborne on Saturday morning by the Elingamite. They come accredited with letters of introduction to' Messrs Williams and Kettle from the Hon. James Carroll, and will spend a 'week or so hero looking over properties. The wedding of a popular young couple took place atjloly Trinity Church yesterday morningj'when Mr Fred. J. H. Stevenson, son of one of Gisborne’s pioneer citizens (the late Mr Sam. Stevenson), was married to Miss Ada Niddrie, of Northern Wairoa, the ceremony being conducted by the Rev.' Canon Webb. The bride, who was given away by Mr J. Sheridan, was handsomely attired in white silk, with passementerie trimmings and chiffon, and orange blossoms. The beautiful bridal veil was a gift sent from South Africa by a trooper who is fighting for his country’s cause. The bridesmaids were the Misses Stevenson, sisters of the bridegroom. They were attired in dresses of grey bengaline, trimmed with white satin and chiffon. The groomsman was Mr George Stevenson, Mr George Saunders also being in attendance. The wedding was a very quiet one, only the immediate relatives and friends of the parties being present. Mrs Stevenson, the bridegroom’s mother, was dressed in a handsome costume of black brocade. Mr--and Mrs Stevenson were the rec.pients of numerous/wedding presents. After the ceremony they left on a trip to’ Nuhaka.
