A BIG PROPOSAL. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday it was decided “ That, in the opinion of this CoricP, the time has arrived when the construction of an Auckland-Manvkau canal should be rid'y considered ” ; (2) “ that, with a view to giving effect to the above resolution, a deputation wait upon the Harbor Boi‘"d and confer with them as to the steos necessary to be taken ; n the matter.' 5
