W A EIIE NGA -A - lIIK A . Tun monthly stock sale, hold by Messrs Common, Shelton, and Co., and Wyllio and Mason at the Waerenga-ft-hika yards, took place yesterday, and was largely attended. There was an excellent yarding of cattle and sheep, and prices wore much on a par with previous sales. The demand for cattle of the right sort was particularly good, and almost every line was cleared at most satisfactory figures. Messrs Wyliio and Mason opened the salo with a number of small steers, which were passed at ,C 8 15s, but wero afterwards sold at a slight advance. The first lot oll'ored by Mr Kells, on bohalf of Messrs Common, Shelton, consisted of several fine young steers, and these wore passed at .Cl 12s (id, but afterwards sold at the reserve. There was keon competition for twelve young heifers, which started at £2, ran in half-crown bids to £2 10s, and then in one-shilling bids to .63 Is, at which figure they were knocked down to a Native buyer named Poniaro, the price being considered by many of thoso present as particularly good. A mixed lot of heifers and steers were sold to the same buyer at £3, and a calf for 255. Bidding for the sheep was nothing like as spirited as it was for tho cattlo, and many of tho lots wero passed, but were nearly all disposed of privately. Two-tooth owes sold up to 11s 9d, and inferior sorts from 5s to 7s fid. Lambs wero done up to 7s fid, that figure being obtained for a line that had been shorn. Several lots of fresh fullmouthed ewes sold at 9s, and two, four, and six-tooth up to 10s. The prices on the whole with regard to sheep were perhaps slightly under those ruling at last sale.

An excellent lunch was supplied by Host O'Connell, of the Wacrcnga-a-lrka Hotel, and was well patronised by those present. The weather was fine for the sale, but the yards after the recent heavy rain were in a very sloppy condition.
