AUCKLAND SPECIAL.
THE MILDURA.
(Special to Times). Auckland, last night. H.M.S. Mildura is to arrive in Auckland from Wellington on Friday, and after remaining hero for a few days, she will go to Melbourne to meet the Duko and Duchess of Cornwall, and join the other war vessels. . THE SEVENTH.
The Auckland second detachment of the Seventh Contingent leave for Wellington to-morrow. The total number is 111. It is expected tho Seventh Contingent will arrive in South Africa about the end of April. THE PONY IVAN. The Gisborne-owned pony Ivan is striding along beautifully at Ellerslie. He has been in training in anticipation of tho Avondale meeting to be hold on April Bth. I am afraid Ivan is an over-estimated horse. AVONDALE MEETING. Owingjjto the Avondale Jockey Club’s improvements and alterations to .the grandstand not being completed, tho officials of tho Ellerslie Racing Club have consented to the Avondale people using their grounds, etc., on tho occasion. EX-CHAMPIONS. I hear that tho champions St.’Paul and Explosion are not likely to carry silk again, and I think tho samo can be said of Seahorse.
