STATE COAL MINE.
DECLARATION BY THE PREMIER. AUTHORITY OF PARLIAMENT TO y BE ASKED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The Premier told a deputation of trades unionists last night that he hoped in a few months to say that Government wore coal dealers. It was his intention to ask Parliament next session for authority to open a State coal mine. Ho mentioned that the contracts existing in the colony, and the manner in which these were being worked, were to the detriment of the people, especially the poor, and demanded immediate attention.
