PERSONAL.

Mr W. A. Barton, S.M., leaves for the Coast-on Wednesday next. Messrs Arthur Rees and W. A. Barlow are to play the final of the men’s tennis championship this afternoon. Mr Bremner, manager of the Turehau station, leaves this morning on a trip to the Islands, returning via Sydney. Mr and Mrs J. Biddells leave by the Mararoa this morning; en route for London. They join the ’Frisco steamer Ventura at Auckland.

Mr R. Dalrymple, travelling inspector of machinery for the Auckland district, is at present in Gisborne. He intends proceeding to the coast by the Omapere on Tuesday.

At the meeting of the Druids’ Lodge oil Thursday Bro. J. Nutting was duly installed as District President, the ceremony being carried out by Bro. Bean, D.P.

Mr Frank Kenway leaves by the Mararoa this morning for Sydney, -where he joins the Britannic for England. He is booked through Mr W. Miller, the local agent for Messrs ' Thomas Cook and Sons. The Wairoa Guardian of March sth says : —“ On dit that Mr James Tait, of Waikari, will shortly be married to Miss U’Ren, of Gisborne.” We understand.; that tho ceremony takes place in Gisborne thismoming, the happy couple leaving by the Mararoa for Auckland.

Mr John McKenzie, of the local postal

staff, has been promoted to the position of chief clerk in the Hawera office. Mr Mc-Kenzie-has been in Gisborne for the past seven years, and during that time has made himself very popular. He has the hearty : good wishes of his many friends for his future welfare,
