The Boer War.

London, March 7. De Wet and Steyn, with 500 followers, on the 4th looted every, shop in Petrusville, ■ and broke the telegraph lines.
The following day Commandants Hertzog ‘'and Brand, with 3000 men, destroyed private property in Petrusville and sjambocked several white residents.
‘Colonel Thorneycroft’s force of 700 arrived as the Boers, were leaving, and chased and shelled their rearguard.
Colonel De Lisle’s column has traversed Cradock southwards. Lord Kitchener and Sir Alfred Milner are at Pretoria.
An optimistic feeling prevails at Capetown and Pretoria regarding an early ending of the war. Commandant Steenkimp at Phillipolis declares that the contest is hopeless. He and his commando are returning to their homes. Private Reiters, a Queenslander, has died of enteric fever at Bloemfontein.
