Paul Pry made the running for the greater part of the distance, but he fell back at the abattoirs, where Advance went to the front, led into tho straight. La Carabine went in pursuit, and passed the New Zealander at tho half distance, and won by two lengths. Clean Sweep was three-quarters of a length furthor away. Time, 5.36;}. Nursery Handicap. Tho first day of the W.J.O. Cup Mooting was held to-day. There was glorious weather, ,a large attendance, and good sport. Tho following are the results : —- Stewards’ Stakes.—Palaver 1, Queen’s Guard 2, Jadoo 3. Five others ran. Time, 1.45 2-5. Dividend, ,C 7 3s. First Hurdles. —Moifa 1, Grey Ribbon 2, Wahvera 3. Ngapuhi was the only other starter. Time, 4.13 2-5. Dividend, £8 3s.
