BEAUTIFYING GISBORNE.
vTo the Editor of the Times.) Sir. —We arc hearing a lot just now about beautifying schemes, but I think when all is said" and done the schemes will fall back on that suggested by our good old friend Mr J nines Whinray. It is a scheme that has everything in its favor, and the only thing that could ever be said against it is that it might have affected the river scheme. His proposal is that we should take advantage of the Borough’s own reserves, which is better than paying fancy prices for places that might be of benefit to our great-grandchildren. —I am, etc., Gisborne.
