Owing to the unavoidable absence of several of the D.J.C. stewards, it was decided, after hearing evidence as to the running of St. Denis at the Autumn Meeting, to adjourn consideration to the monthly meeting. j St. Denis, it. will be remembered, ran badly at the meeting, and then, in one race, developed a swiftness for which tho backers of other horses strive to account in their own way.]
