ANNIVERSARY HANDICAP,

Twenty started in the race. The betting was 5 to 2 Bulma and 3to 1 Dandy. The winner, after occupying a position in the ruck for the greater part of the way, shot out below the distance, and there was a great finish, Dandy winning by a head. The time was 2.39£.

A protest against the winner was held over till Monday, after a part hearing, and the machine ordered to pay out. Blue Jacket went to the head of affairs four furlongs from home, and scored by a couple of lengths from Dayntree, who just beat Regulus for second honors. Time 2.13 3-5. Div., inside LI 7s, outside L 3 183. On winner, L 349. Totalisator 1390. Hobson Handicap,of 100 sovs; five furlongs. The rider of Little Bess took matters rather easily in the straight, and thus enabled Despatch to make a dead heat of it. Time I.G. Won by a head, with the same distance between second and third horses. On winner £205. Zeehan won, but was disqualified for crossing.

CHRISTCHURCH JOCKEY CLUB. SECOND DAY. [by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, last night. The second day’s racing of the C.J.C. Meeting took place on- Saturday. There was a fair attendance. The sum put through the totalisator for the day was £3865, a total for the meeting of £8074. The results were : Belfast Hurdles, ISOsovs.; once round and a distance.—Derry, 10.13, 1; Dundee, 11.7, 2; Larboard, 9, 3. Ilex also started, but unseated the rider. It was a good race. Time 3.8; dividend £4 13s 6d. Linwood Welter Handicap, lOOsov.; 1 mile. —Suzannah, 5.12,1; Claude Baye, 8.2, 2; Ismere, 9.9, 3. There were three other starters. Suzannah came through at the finish, and won by 2 lengths. Time 1.45; dividend £ll 16s 6d.
Champion Plate, 25050v5.; 7 furlongs.— Menschikoff, 7.10, 1; Cruciform, 6.10, 2; Golden Mere, 7.7,3. Blazer also started, but when he was looking dangerous, entering the straight, he broke a bloodvessel and fell, slightly injuring the rider, Jackson. Menschikoff then won easily. Time 1.29}; dividend £1 7s 6d. :
