General Cablegrams.

By Telegraph. Press Association. Copyright London, Feb. 12. The Lord Mayor of London has addressed a communication to the King suggesting the formation of a small committee of members of the present and late Governments to consider what form the proposed national monument to the late Queen should take. He suggests that the committee should nominate a representative committee for maturing a scheme. Lord Bosebery has declared that he has severed connection with all party organi-. sations. The intimation was contained in a communication declining an invitation to become President of the Bristol Liberal Club.

It is reported at Portsmouth that the King and Queen intend to witness the departure of the Duke and Duchess of York. The Channel squadron will escort the Ophir from England to Gibraltar. The Mediterranean squadron accompanies her through the Mediterranean to Malta and Port Said. Torpedo destroyers will guard the Ophir through the Suez Canal, and the cruisers St. George and Juno, which leave England on March 12th, will also escort the Boyal yacht from Suez to Perim, where the East Indian squadron takes over the duty and continues to New Guinea, where the Australian squadron takes charge and convoys them to Sydney.
