Napier Harbor Board.

CONSIDERABLE CHANGES.

MR ORMOND’S RETIREMENT,

[by telegraph—press association.]

Napier, last night. A considerable alteration has occurred in the personnel of the Harbor Board. The Hon. J. Ormond, who has been Chairman since the establishment of the Board, has retired on account of the Board reducing the wharfage dues largely and making on .increased rate on property. He, as an exporter, would benefit by the change, but he held that the few would benefit and the many have to pay !)he increased rates, which he held to be unfair and unjust. The Waipawa County Council elected Mr Jull in his place. Of the three retiring town members Captain Davidson retired altogether ; Messrs J. V. Brown and F. W. Williams were reelected, Dr DeLisle taking Captain Davidson’s place. Mr Coleman retired as representative of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr Baxter, of the Loan and Mercantile Company, being elected.
