Trap Accident at Haiti.

YOUNG MAN BREAKS HIS LEG,

A skhious trap accident happened on the Haiti - last evening, resulting in a young man named Sydney Gardiner, a bushman, breaking his leg. In company with another young man, Gardiner was out driving in a gig, and at about five o’clock they were passing near Mr Colcbournc’s residence. They drove too near the side of the road, where there is a small embankment, and tho gig capsized, both young men being either thrown or jumping out. Gardiner’s companion escaped unhurt, but ho himself was badly injured. Dr Craig was at once sent for, and upon his arrival at the scene of the accident ho found that Gardiner had his right leg badly fractured four inches above tho ankle. Tho hone was laid .bare, and protruded from the flesh over six inches, the bone itself having run into the ground. Dr Craig put the leg in a temporary split, and ordered the patient's removal to the Hospital, where ho was afterwards operated on, Dr Hughes assisting in the operation, and administering chloroform. Tho fracture was a very severe one, and Dr Craig had to suture the ends of tho bones, the case being referred to by the matron as one of the worst that had come under her notice.
