Ad ranee lias been backed to win .£3.0 000 for the Newmarket Handicap. The New Zealander is now first favorite at hundreds to six.

Wairoa, last night. There is splendid weather for the Wairoa races, and a large attendance. The course is rather heavy, consequent on the heavy rain last night. There wore several 'falls during the day. In the Hack Hurdles the Gisborne, horse, Cronje, fell. A. McKenzie, the Gisborne horseman, received a nasty cut on the chin. He icmounted the horse and succeeded in winning second money. Wilson came down in the County Stakes, when going well. The jockey was not injured.
