Rowing.
Several exciting rowing contests took place last evening, including three races in connection with the handicap double sculls. The first race was between J. Webb and W. Parker, and J. Newton and E. Jones, and resulted in a spirited contest. The latter crew had the best of the handicap, but were caught at the corner, and Webb’s boat coming on in good style won by about half a length.
The second race between A. W. Ivirk and 'j, Harland and A, Britcharcj and D. West was won by the latter after a good race, the two boats never being more than a length distance from another, A, Russell and R. Edict met A. Kirk and J. Muir, and drawing away at the bridge won by half a length. The drawing for the second round resulted as follows: —
