Sexaginta Tres.
O Lord Almighty, God of Hosts, King of our destiny; Lot no false pride or idle boasts Estrange us, Lord, from Thee. ■ In silent prayer, on bended knee, An Empire’s grief’s outpour’d: The die is cast—we ask of Thee, Receive our Queen, O Lord. Wo would that sho had longer stay'd O'er us in peaco to reign— _ Inscrutable Thy laws are made, Our loss Th'ou did’st ordain. What tho’ our loss,[’tis yet her gain In Thy Kingdom so blest, O King of Kings, beneath Thy reign To dwell in peaceful rest. A Crown not made with hands, O Lord, May it her portion be, Of glory deckod in joyous chord, With heavenly minstrelsy. Oh, whero; Oh, whero thy sling, O O Grave, thy victory ? [Death ? 'T was but the fleeting of her breath That set Victoria free. C.W-F., Gisborne, 23rd January, 1901.
