Fire at Nuhaka.
The Nuhaka Hotel had a narrow escape from being destroyed by fire on Saturday evening. About 9 o’clock the bedroom occupied by the children!of the licensee, Mr Cooper, was discovered to be in flames, the curtain and bedclothes having caught through the children playing with candles. Fortunately two Gis borne residents, Messrs W. Solomon and Ridsdale, were near the room at the time, and through their aid the fire was extinguished before much damage was done. Mr Solomon, who brought the news to Gisborne, rode through from Nuhaka yesterday.
