ROWING.

The final heat of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s double sculling handicap wa3 rowed on Saturday evening, a great deal of interest being taken in the result. The contesting crews were D. West and J. Newton, Gsec, and A. Russell and R. Kellett, Bsec. Russell and Kellett with their two seconds start obtained a slight lead, which West and Newton had not reduced when the jetty was reached. From here to the winning post a hard race ensued, Russell and Kellett eventually winning by a length. The following crews have been picked for the second double sculling handicap of the Poverty Bay Bowing Club:—J. Webb and W. Parker, D. West and A. Pritchard, K. McLeod and H. Solvander, F. Fox and C. Boyle, A. W. Kirk and J. Harneld, J. Poole and B. Boyle, C. Taylor and G. Brown, R. Kellett and Russell, H. Taylor and J. Parker, E. File and J. Smith, H. Burns and R. Moore, E. Jones and J. Newton, Arch. Kirk and J. Muir, C. Kirk and G, Blair. These races will be rowed in about a fortnight’s time.
