SIXTH CONTINGENT APPOINT-
MENTS.

Wellington, last night. The Hon. J. G. Ward has decided to ask the mayors and commanding officers in the various districts through which the Imperial troops will pass to give them a fitting reception. In each centre local cavalry corps will bo asked to place their horses at the disposal of tho visitors, so that they may present as imposing a display as possible. Probably a review of the volunteers will bo held at each centre.
The following provisional appoint- . ments of non-commissioned officers in the Sixth Contingent have been made : i Quarter - master, Color - Sergeant Mitchell (Wellington); medical staff ' orderly, Trooper A.‘ Saunders (Christchurch).
