Ancient Order of Foresters.

At the meeting of the Foresters held on Tuesday evening the following officers were installed by the P.C.R. Bro. Thomas Ellery : C. 8., Bro. E. File; S.C.R., Bro. ffm, Bruce ; S. Bro. W. Edwards; J. 8., Bro. C. F. Lewis; 5.8., Bro. A. G. Wheeler; J. 8., Bro. T. Fernandez. The treasurer, Bro. H. J. Bushnell, and secretary, Bro. W. L. File, were re-elected for the 34th term, each having seen 17 years’ service. Congratulations and hearty votes of thanks were tendered to the incoming officers, and also the retiring ones. The balance-sheet for the year ending 1900 shows the state of the funds to be—Sick and funeral fund : receipts £356 6s Id, expenditure £249 Os 4d, leaving a balance to capital account of £2302 6s sd. The management fund stands at £BB 14s 7d,'receipts being £236 2s 6d, and expenditure £227 Os sd. The benevolent fund has £3O 10s 7d to its credit. There was a gain of £lls over all the funds during the past year. A special and hearty vote of thanks was unanimously tendered to the treasurer, secretary, and trustees for the excellent and efficient management and investment of the funds. The retiring 1 ' P.C.R., Bro. Ellery, was voted a P.C.R. sash for his able manner of conducting the business during his second term of office. A proposal to double the funeral claims at a nominal cost was received and adopted unanimously. This will be submitted to the members individually, and, if approved, will- give them £4O at death, and members’ wives £2O at death. This is undoubtedly a move in the right direction.
