The Russell Election.
HONE HEKE’S RETURN ASSURED,
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. In the Russell election the returns so far received show that Hone Heke has polled 1538 votes, Hapetahenare 77, Pouaka Parore 66, Eparama Kapa 258, Riri Paraea 92, and Riapo Puhepi 437. Seven small returns, totalling in all about 100 votes are not in, but the result cannot be affected, and Hone Heke’s return is assured.
