BODY FOUND IN THE HARBOR.
HON. J. McKENZIE’S HEALTH. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Dunedin, last night. Since old age pensions have been established 128 pensioners have died in the Dunedin district.
The body of a man was found under the wharf at Port Chalmers. It was identified by the chief engineer of the Aotea as that of Alex Smith, a greaser, who has been missing from the vessel since Boxing Day. In-all 140 passengers have booked for the Waikare’s Sounds excursion, the great proportion being Australian and English tourists.
The Hon. John McKenzie arrived in town this afternoon. It is understood this step has been taken on the advice of his medical adviser with a view to receiving special treatment which, it is hoped, will help his recovery.
