[By Telegraph—Press Association.]

Wellington, last night, At the Educational Conference tho following resolutions were agreed to: —(1) “ That this Council reaffirm the desirability of a colonial scalo of staffs and salaries.’ (2) “ That for each fully certificated teacher the minimum salary shall be fixed.” (3) “ That it i 3 desirable that teachers be afforded facilities for arraging exchange of positions.” (4) “That the time has now arrived when the vacancies in the inspectorships should bo filled from the ranks of the teachers, and that experience as teachers should be taken into account equally with culture in filling such vacuncies.” (S) "That a special committee. consisting of Messrs Hodge, l'lamnrk, Miss Hooper, and the mover, be appointed to take into consideration the bringing of tho Institute under the Industrial and Conciliation and Arbitration Acts.” (6) “ That the Government be asked to make provision for medical examination, but not necessarily the treatment of any scholar the head teacher deems afdicted.” The Superannuation Committee reported that in its opinion teachers couid obtain much better terms by joining some existing insurance company than by attempting to establish such a society of themselves; if, however, the Government were to start some scheme by making a substantial grant, the matter would assume a different phase. The Institute also considered a motion declaring that fer all positions salaries should be allotted, having regard to importance of the work and not to sex. But at the suggestion of the President, the previous question was carried, and the motion was shelved.
