GIVING UP SINGING

ROBESON’S OBJECTIVE ANTI-FASCIST CAMPAIGN NEW YORK, May 10. The negro singer, Paul Robeson, who has described himself as antiFascist, has announced that he is giving up his singing career for two years to conduct a campaign against fascism in America. His announcement followed a concert in Albany School hall, which drew an audience ot 1200. A Supreme Court order had previously given Paul Robeson the right to use the hall for a concert after the Albany Board of Education had sought to withdraw permission for the concert when the House Committee on Un-American Activities reported that Robeson was prominent in an organisation it described as Communistinspired.
