All Possessions Lost

Cabled advice was received by Mrs. A. E. Hanna, de Lnutnur road, yesterday that her son. Flying Officer Noel Hanna, had lost all his possessions in the fire which destroyed the officers' livingquarters at Iwakuni airfield. Japan. The fire which was reported in the cable news in Monday's Gisborne Herald, apparently was not noticed until it had obtained a good hold, and many of the officers escaped only in pyjamas and dressing-gowns. Flying Officer Hanna, who served several tours of dutv in tlie Pacific flying fighter aircraft. only recently rejoined the R.N.Z.A.F on a short-service commission. He had been in Japan only a month. Tits cable message indicated that other than the loss of possessions, all was well.
