CANADIANS’ INTEREST
MIGRATION TO N.Z. PRAISE FOR DOMINION (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 26. If shipping was available and New Zealand wanted immigrants from Canada many would come, said Mr. D. Wilson who returned in the Marine Phoenix this morning after more than three years in Canada as New Zealand High Commissioner. Mr. Wilson said he had addressed hundreds of meetings and many inquired about the possibility of coming to New Zealand. Canadians were keenly interested in New Zealand's social security legislation, he added. Canada herself had made considerable advances in this field, and now had a family allowance and to some extent unemployment insurance. The stumbling block to a more comprehensive system of social security was the existence of nine provincial Governments. After referring to his work as New Zealand representative on the supervisory board of ihe Empire air training scheme during which he visited with Group Captain T. W. White every training camp where New Zealanders were stationed, Mr. Wilson said he never met one New Zealander who was dissatisfied with his treatment in Canada, or a Canadian who having entertained New Zealanders was not full of praise.
