LITTLE RAIN AT TAUPO (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 27. The consumption of electricity in the North Island last week amounted to 24,768,000 units, which was 3.1 per cent in excess of the allocation for the week. The new schedule of allocations representing the 5 per cent increase to most of the supply authorities came into force as from midnight on Sunday. There was hardly any rain at Taupo over the past week, but the level of the lake remained steady. Waikaremoana rose 1.1 ft., but the dams at Mangahao are practically empty again, only ,19in. of rain having fallen there during the past week.
