In a message to the Gisborne Herald received today Mr. Coleman states that when he interviewed the Minister a short time ago on the subject of the rental charges for the hall, Mr. Jones pointed out that the scale was based on a reasonable return on the capital outlay plus direct current expenses. Mr. Jones had promised to gave consideration to a reduction in the charges, however. “I have again interviewed the Minister, who as a result of my further representations has agreed to a reduction from 30s per hour to £1 per hour,” states Mr. Coleman’s message. “Knowing all the circumstances of this particular case and also the departmental policy regarding charges for the use of drill halls generally, I am satisfied that the Minister’s decision is veryequitable and fair.”
