SHIPMENT OVERSEAS The strong support of the Gisborne Harbour Board was accorded yesterday to the resolution carried at last week's provincial conference of Federated Farmers in Gisborne concerning the decentralisation of shipping. Mr. M. J White took occasion during a discussion on the future of the Gisborne harbour to compliment Mr. C. . IT Williams upon his advocacy of the ; claims of secondary ports, and at a later stage Mr. Williams asked the board to record its support to the Fed-" crated Farmers' resolution, as the opinion of the board must have a good deal of weight with the Marine Department ’ and with the overseas shipowners.-,: ''; *. Several members accorded their sup- ~ port, and Mr. I. J Quigiey stated that ' direct shipment of wool from Gisborjje scented a natural and., indeed, fan essential corrolarv of the sale of Wool ' at Gisborne. This was merely one - direction in which a return to normal conditions in the port was indicated by the current course of events. The board unanimously approved a motion supporting the Federated Farmers’ resolution, and directing that the;; text be brought to the attention of ,7 the overseas shipping committee. *.
