NO IMPROVEMENT

PETROL GRADE IN N.Z. (P.A.) WELLINGTON. May 24. The-present grade of petrol available for motorists is to remain unchanged. This was learned authoritatively yesterday. Specifications of this standard grade were laid down by the British authorities some years ago. and it is understood that the New Zealand Customs Department lias issued instructions to importers that only this grade may be brought into the country.

Improvements in the quality of petrol mean greater losses in refining, it is stated, and the present standard grade is designed to give the greatest quantity of motor spirit from the crude oil. The need for economy is expected to continue for some time.
