NEW BRITISH FIGHTER

SPEED 590 MILES AN HOUR LONDON, May 22. Britain’s new single-seater fighter plane, the Vickers Supermarine Attacker, which is fitted with the Rolls Boyce jet engine, has a maximum speed of 550 miles an hour. It has an operational ceiling of 43,500 feet, and can climb to 30,000 feet in 617 minutes. It can cruise at 380 miles an hour for I.C hours or for 3.78 hours if fitted with a 270 gallons droptank. Its armament consists of four 20millimetre cannon and two 10001 b bombs or four 3001 b. rockets. Three have been built, two of which arc designed for operation from aircraftcarriers.
