King's.—That fine film. "Intermezzo,” which is being revived at the King's Theatre today, is the picture in which wo first learned of Ingrid Bergman, the Swedish actress, who has since leapt into one of the foremost positions in the screen business in Hollywood. The fact that she appears in the company of the late Leslie Howard and the English actress Edna Best makes this revival all the more interesting. Regent.—Possibly the best recommendation of "Quiet Week-end,” which commences an extended season tomorrow, is that the film is now in its fifteenth week at the Embassy Theatre, Auckland, with a record of over 140,000 admissions. Once in a while a play which has everything to please and entertain comes to the screen without any fanfare of trumpets and satisfies everyone. Such a production is “Quiet Week-end,” which succeeds in extracting humour from small and homely things, from nice and homely people. This is its charm; and, for those who relish such peculiarly English comedy, this ensures its success. •
Majestic.—Tonight's programme is headed by Columbia's outstanding drama of the old United States West in Technicolour, "Renegades,” with Evelyn Keyes, Willard Parker and Larry Parks. It is the red-blooded story of a red-headed girl. Love made her an outlaw. She married one of the Dembrows and rode with a notorious outlaw hand. The featurettes are bright and entertaining.
