BACK IN AUSTRALIA
DIEPPE RAID LEADER MELBOURNE, June 4. Air Vice-Marshal A. T. Cole, Royal Australian Air Force, who was forward commander of the air forces in the Dieppe commando raid last August, is back in Australia. For his part in the raid, in which lie was wounded, he was awarded the D.S.O. Sixty Allied aircraft were lost during the raid and 17G German planes were destroyed. Air Vice-Marshal Cole emphasised I he valuable invasion lessons that had been learned from the raid, which was also a severe blow at German morale.
