SMALL YARDING TO-DAY

A Her a period of large offerings of store sheep, to-day’s yarding at the weekly Matuwhero stock sale was small, totalling only about 1001) head. The greater part of the offering comprised medium hoggets, which sold readily at advanced value;; of about Is a head, compared with recent rates. Forward conditioned wether hoggets sold at Ids and I (is lOd, those in very fair order at 15s and lighter framed and conditioned at 13s 2d and 13s 4d. One pen of medium ewe hoggets, woolly, was passed in at 17s. During the early part of the sale DO twotool hs to four-year-old ewes, r.w. Romney rams, made good buying at 13s Gd, while 120 forward wethers were passed in at 225. Borne of the prices for wether hoggets were:—Fifty, Mr. A. Mossman, Tiniroto, l(is lOd; 72, Mr. M. Angland, lfis; 104. Mr. 11. J. F. Tombleson, Otoko, 15s; 04, second cut, same vendor, 13s 2d; 44, 13s 4d. The beef entry was not a large one and included both station and dairy types. Station cows sold from Xit Is for light and up to £1 12s for medium finished, with heifers from £5 0s to i‘7. Jersey cows sold to i'l Ds ami voalers to £‘2 I Os. Other Sections The market for fat. sheep was slacker than at recent, sales and approximately half of the pens offered were passed in. The yarding totalled over 200. The best of the ewes ranged from 10s to 18s, including 72 at 17s 3d and 12 at 18s. Lighter sorts brought from 14s 6d to 15s Gd. Among the passed-in lines was a pen of 57 for which tiie bidding reached 18s Sd, with other peas unsold at 17s 4d, 18s, and down to 15s 3d. A pen of 32 ewe lambs reached 20s Bd. A small yarding of pigs 'was offered on a firm market. Most of the offering was from Messrs. Lewis and Bennett, Ruatoria, aiul their entries sold at 17s for weaners, 20s to 3ls for stores and £2 2s to 3igns. fur sows and pigs. Other empty sows brought 20s.
